Face and Neck Lift Surgery

Over the years, our face and neck age slowly but perceptibly. The sagging of our cheeks and chins, the wrinkles that form cause us to look much older than we feel. Saggy cheeks and chins, “turkey neck” and wrinkles can make us look much older than we feel. These physical changes we experience occur due to the sun, nutrition, hereditary, gravity. It affects all tissue layers surrounding our face and neck. Thanks to Aesthetic Surgery procedures, these undesirable changes can be completely eliminated skillfully.

With the developing technology in recent years, face and neck lift operations are performed with surgical and non-surgical techniques. With his interest and experience in facial aesthetics, Op.Dr.Erdi Özdemir, he will decide which approach will be most suitable for you during your appointment.

The purpose of a face and neck lift is to improve the appearance of the soft tissues of the face and neck by placing them in a younger position. Face and neck lift surgeries are usually performed when non-surgical interventions do not work (face filler, botox, etc.).

How is Face and Neck Lift Surgery Performed?

The surgery is generally performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia. Most surgeons will achieve a consistent and natural look when simultaneously lifting the cheeks, chin and neck while working with muscle, fat and skin with concealed incisions around the ear and under the chin.

Post-operatively, the patient will notice a noticeable improvement in cheekbone height, jawline, chin and neck. As a result, the patient will look more beautiful and younger.

In this type of surgery, some personalized procedures can be applied. When the voluminous face is lost, fat can be removed from another part of the body and applied to this area to regain the youthful appearance. Since the face is considered as a whole, other procedures, including eyelid surgery and forehead lift, can be performed at the same time to restore the proportion and harmony of the face.

The surgery can take 2 to 5 hours. The patient can return home the same day, but the doctor may leave you under observation overnight after he evaluates your condition.

When Will Face and Neck Lift Surgery Heal?

Many patients may experience swelling and bruising for the first week or two. Severe pain and suffering are not experienced in these surgeries. Ice should be applied for the first few days. If drainage was placed during surgery, it can be removed. Skin sutures are removed after 1 week. After the anesthetic fatigue is relieved, the patients feel quite good. After a week or two, you can start to participate in daily life and social activities. Walking and light exercises can be done immediately after surgery. However, heavy exercises should be avoided. It is absolutely necessary to follow the recovery protocols that the doctor will recommend to you. Otherwise, complications may develop, though very little.

Is Face and Neck Lift Surgery Risky?

Face and neck lift surgeries are slightly risky and post-operative complications are rare. Bleeding, complications and infection after any operation are rare. The visibility and numbness of scars or an asymmetrical appearance is unusual. If you experience an injury to a nerve that controls your facial movements, see your surgeon immediately. If you are using blood-thinning drugs, such as aspirin, you should definitely tell your doctor before surgery. Although very rare, the following complications may develop:

• anesthetic risks

• bleeding related infection

• blood coagulation

• pain or scarring

• hair loss in incision areas

• prolonged swelling

• problems with wound healing

Not all variables that affect your final result can be controlled by your doctor. Risks should be discussed when making a surgical decision with your surgeon.

What Should Be Done Before Surgery?

Your doctor may also ask you to:

• Stop using aspirin, anti-inflammatory pain relievers and herbal supplements to reduce the risk of bleeding and bruising.

• Use the products you need to apply to your face before the procedure.

• Not to use excessive alcohol and drugs.
